Check water drains away from house

Remove trip, fall, and choking hazards

Clogged dryer vents are a fire hazard. Clean the vent line from dryer to exterior exhaust.
Kitchen, bath, and dryer exhaust ducts should vent freely to the outside.
Check for wet surfaces or puddles

Pour water into the sump pit to confirm the pump activates and the check valve holds.
Test floor drain is working

Ensure proper storage of fuel cans

Test garage door safety shut-off

Check for signs of water damage

Inspect corners, storage areas, and ceiling for rodent droppings or insect nests.

Look for stains on rafters, sheathing, or insulation.
